Living in Paradise.*

hawai'i is truly a tropical paradise. my best and oldest friends, weather made in heaven, living with aloha, white wine on the north shore, local boys, sacred falls, tantlis, menehune, house babies, and everyone just trying to enjoy life. basically like the polar opposite of la. just a few moments....*

Medicinal Botanical Wonders.*

so now that i'm preparing myself for graduate school for botany and plant biology, i am trying to teach myself chemistry. yes, this is as hard as it sounds, but i keep getting distracted with the pretty pictures, as usual. it's pretty cool to think that botanists were illustrating these well over 100 years ago, but the plants are still exactly the same. if anyone knows the original botanical illustrator, please comment, since as of the moment i can't hunt his name down anywhere. thx.*

Witch House.*

so following along with my OG goth rant, allow me to introduce the musical signifier of this cultural blend: witch house. pitchfork.com discusses this new genre at length: "...It's been called "drag," "witch house," and "haunted house,"...it's ghostly, slow-moving electro-pop, each with their own unique spin...."drag" is partly a reference to screwed and chopped hip-hop, the syrupy style cooked up by DJ Screw and others in 1990s Houston,...but they're also toying with dub, goth, current electro, ambient house รก la KLF's Chill Out, and even chart pop...twisting it and slowing it down, making it druggier..." oh, post-post-modernism. you are at your finest.*

Mitakuye Oyasin : All My Relations.*

so ian recently showed me this photo site and it's filled to the brim with tons of relevant and beautiful work. i haven't even had a chance to fully explore each artist's work yet, but i especially love this body of work by Aaron Huey, titled "Mitakuye Oyasin: All My Relations," taken from his time spent on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. check it out, and check out the site at tinyvices.com>.*
