MOCA: Art in the Streets Private Opening.*

the first ever international street art show here in the states: Art in the Streets @ the MOCA Geffen Contemporary, cureated by aaron rose, roger gastman, jeffrey deitch, and fab 5 freddy, is running until august 8th and is one of the best shows i have ever seen. it made it even more special that some friends of ours, os gemeos, gave us a private tour and let us play in the wonderland they created. every hip celeb you could imagine attended the private opening. check out the show here and don't miss this.*

my friend michi moved from san diego to japan a few years back, and is currently setting up a really cool looking art gallery/shop/girl's bike shop. i follow her progress and thought i would share some pictures. she even repp'd cat cult in harajuku!*

beautiful losers: dash snow.*

people tend to be very opinionated when it comes to dash snow. some glorify, other criticize. ian knew him in ny and was really sad when he passed this summer....just like kurt in so many ways (collages, heroin overdose, leaving behind a wife and daughter, blonde and gorgeous...). but i can relate, so i can't judge. beautiful man, beautiful lust for life.*

Roaming in LA: Graff, Trannies, and Spacemen.*

running around LA, some of the things to be seen: lots of writing on the walls, super-cute dracula cat posters, neon-wearing trannies who say we look like fun girls, and, my favorite, the man who wanted to tell us all about his planet out in space.*

Retna & The Mac.*

i went with ian to go photograph retna and the mac as they painted. those two are incredible. retna created his own hebrew/arabic-looking language and the mac paints like i've never seen before, 3D shading and crosshatching and detail like you'd never image was possible to achieve with spraypaint. i sat on the fire escape and wrote in my journal as the boys be'd boys. i guess i'll never escape my teenage gothness at heart.*
