Aging Gracefully in Colored Socks and Clogs.*

can i just say that the best thing about getting older is a cyclical sense of validation of my good taste? throughout the years, i remember being both honored and critiqued for various fashion trends and pop culture interests, and as they all come back into style one by one, i get to say, "i told you so," to all the homegirls that laughed at me. case in point #1: clogs. always loved them. now they are back in style. case in point #2: socks with heels. thanks to alexander wang, cynthia rowley, and dear old urban outfitters for the support. it's back in style, bitches. " i told you so."*

Jean Paul Gaultier: Aztecs and Avatars.*

i got the most badass magazine from some news stand called "L'Officiel 1000 Models Haute Couture Spring Summer 2010 Paris N. 102." it has photos of the complete lines for spring and summer for so many amazing designers, but by far the most avant-garde was Gautlier. Reviews: "New fashion 2010: Jean Paul Gaultier Spring Summer 2010 collection at Paris Haute Couture: Designer Jean Paul Gaultier was inspired by the Aztecs and also the film Avatar, prompting a Mexican fiesta of a collection. Conquistador-style armour featured throughout. The collection featured dresses woven in the manner of peasant baskets, in ribbons of shadow-dyed silk and suede. Giant sombreros, and hand-tooled leather and cowboy boots added to the fiesta feel. An exotic twist was created in the form of palm tree headdresses and multi-plaited hairstyles." (newfashionnews.com) the last one totally reminds me of the gaga outfit where she was gowned in blood. i'm willing to bet she ate this shit up too.*

Victorian Darlings.*

i really wish victorian booties like this were still readily available in such quality and variety....
Victorian Booties

i would love to dress like these ladies, bring back words like "proper" and "dapper" et all. hipsterdom embraces all things trashy and kitch and that's great, but i still wish i had a chance to witness the days of politeness. this old woman was trying to find a moment of solace amongst tourists. i try to find those moments every day as well, but as i confiscated a knife today and sent 5 kids home for being truant and high and bandaged another kid's bleeding middle finger and tried to stop a girl from beating someone up, it's no easy task. i'd be willing to bet i would be told to slap their hands with a yardstick if we were in these days....not that i'm a fan of corporeal punishment. but still.*

27.*

the pool party was fun. the standard is always full of douchebags, but after 7 p.m. they really tune into full-blown asshole mode. someone wants me to model fo their fashion line, apparently. you know, everyone must be "so important." you must "be somebody."we ended up at tom's loft. pictures to follow soon. my actual birthday was a bit of an emotional roller coaster. here is the outfit i chose to match. (please excuse the stretching and crumping of the distorted sizes.) daniella took me to my very favorite, very fancy restaurant, "bar celona," and we had the bombest foods ever. thanks, friends. i have some really good ones.*
